Overview of the role:
Supporting our team in a long-term contract within the East Lothian Area. The scope of work for this position involves installation, maintenance, and repair of emergency lighting within council buildings. The standard working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. However, it's important to note that some buildings, such as schools, may require the engineer to start at 6/7 am.
Roles and responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair EMERGENCY LIGHTING electrical systems and equipment
- Perform EMERGENCY LIGHTING electrical inspections and testing to ensure compliance with BRITISH standards BS 5266
- Troubleshoot EMERGENCY LIGHTING electrical issues and make necessary repairs
- Ensure emergency lighting is fit for purpose & make recommendations
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations while working on electrical systems
Qualifications and experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an electrician (preferred but not essential)
- Proficient in working with electrical systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and regulations
- Familiarity with electrical hand tools and power tools
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve electrical issues
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate installation and repairs
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with clients, team members, and supervisors
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that may require standing, bending, or lifting heavy equipment
