Members are the lifeblood of our association, so we are always keen to organise events where we can meet face-to-face and discuss industry issues, offer advice and recognise their achievements. We also enjoy the social side too!
Below you can find out about the many SELECT events that we organise. From our annual awards and popular Toolbox Talks to networking and charity events, there’s always plenty to get involved with.
These dedicated Branch meetings are held twice a year, during which Members can hear about developments, ask questions and meet their fellow professionals. Technical presentations hosted by our experts are also a key part of these get-togethers. During the pandemic, Updates were held virtually to keep Members in the loop with developments. Member Representatives are always keen to talk with Members, arranging ad-hoc sessions to answer queries and deliver important updates. These drop-ins can happen any time throughout the year, and are usually hosted in a hotel with a relaxed atmosphere. Our ever-popular technical roadshows take place throughout May and June every year. Travelling from the Borders to the Highlands – and everywhere in between – our experts deliver the latest industry updates via presentations and Q&A sessions, plus the events also feature suppliers, wholesalers, games and freebies. The SELECT Awards is the most prestigious event in our calendar and has been running for more than a decade. Always a glittering occasion, the event attracts the biggest and best from the Scottish sector and beyond, with businesses large and small recognised for their hard work and dedication. Categories include Best New Product, Apprentice of the Year, Best Customer Service and many more. Find out more.
Another popular event, this annual sporting get-together sees Members get in the swing and raise funds as they battle it out for the coveted President’s Trophy. As well as the chance of some friendly rivalry with other Branches, the day is a good opportunity to network and meet fellow professionals during high tea in the clubhouse afterwards. Find out more.
This annual event gives Members, SELECT staff and office bearers the chance to meet and enjoy the Scottish countryside, while at the same time raising funds for the Electrical Industries Charity. Different locations in Scotland are chosen every year, with previous events including a five-mile hike at Green Bridge Trail at Chatelherault Park, Hamilton. Families and dogs are welcome too! SELECT’s HQ in Midlothian is the setting for our annual themed barbecue, with Members and staff spending a day in the sunshine at The Walled Garden to raise funds for the Electrical Industries Charity. Previous events have included a Teddy Bear’s Picnic, which saw staff, Members and their families enjoy a day of face painting, entertainment and games. Find out more.
