SELECT training service is praised during SQA review

SELECT’s training department has been praised by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) as part of its annual review of our services and courses.

Our online BS 7671 course was singled out for particular acclaim following the annual qualification verification visit to SELECT’s dedicated training centre in August. 

The SQA External Verifier commented: “There is a good standard of documentation in place for the centre’s processes. Procedures are comprehensive and reflect that the staff are well experienced with this type of material and present the material in an excellent way to give the candidates a first-class presentation and online assessment environment. This maximises the candidates’ positive experience and confidence.”

The report went on: “Internal verification (IV) processes were also found to be in very good order with a comprehensive IV reporting system in place and IV paperwork and additional student results were reviewed at random during the session.

“Overall, opinion was that good internal procedures are in place, that standards are maintained and that documentation is well controlled with a revision history recorded.”

An annual review is required by all SQA training centres, who must comply with quality assurance criteria and assessment of candidates in line with national standards to maintain accreditation.

SELECT Training Manager Jenny Cryans (pictured above) said: “We are delighted with this outcome which reflects the excellent work delivered by our trainers and administration team.

“SQA have been really helpful during lockdown and assisted with the development of our online courses and assessments, which made the set-up and delivery of digital training so much easier to achieve.

“Congratulations should be given to all involved and it shows what great training SELECT provides for everyone who attend our training courses.”

The SQA verdict comes hot on the heels of recent feedback from delegates who have taken part in our online BS 7671 training course. 

One said: “It was a great course and I was very impressed with the whole experience.” Another commented: “My overall experience was brilliant and the goal was reached at the best possible way.” A third added “It was a great option to continue training during these trying times.”
