New Network Infrastructure card to be available via ECS portal

The Scottish Joint Industry Board (SJIB) is preparing to launch the fifth phase of Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) cards through its online portal.

The Network Infrastructure card will be available from Monday 13 December and is designed for operatives and managers who work in datacomms.

Cards are available in eight network infrastructure categories: Apprentice, Trainee, Installer (Level 3), Installer (Gold), Advanced Installer, Supervisor, Designer and Manager.

To be eligible, applicants must be able to prove they have completed specific training as well as the ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment within the last 30 months. Alternatively, they must hold a valid approved exemption.

The new card follows the rollout of the SJIB’s ECS Card portal in May, which means cards can be applied for, renewed and upgraded online in the following specialist areas:

  • Management – ECS Site Support, Academically Qualified Person (AQP), ECS Manager including Electrical Site Manager, Electrical Contract Manager, Manager, Project Manager, Contract Manager, Professionally Qualified Person (PQP), Academically Qualified Person (AQP).

Using the portal is quick and easy, with applicants guided through a simple step-by-step process, which includes uploading certificates and paying the relevant fee. Applications can be made via a computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone.

To find out more and apply, visit the portal at bit.ly/ECS-portal, click on ‘Network Infrastructure’, click on the relevant card from the drop-down list and complete the initial online application.

Copies of all relevant certificates and documentation must be uploaded. Failure to do so will delay the application process and subsequent card issue.
