ECS Related Discipline

The SJIB have introduced new ECS Related Discipline cards.

Any existing ECS Related Discipline card will be honoured until it expires.

Click on the Related Discipline Card Finder to view a list of old occupations and the recommended alternative cards.

Initial Application

To be eligible to apply for your first ECS Related Discipline card you must be working in specialised electrotechnical disciplines, but do not carry out any installation work. Your work is typically aligned to or in support of the electrical industry but is not already covered by a core ECS card. 

You must provide a sector specific training reference and a detailed Job Description from your employer, detailing your Job Title and the scope of work.

In addition, you must have completed the following Health and Safety courses within the last three years and be able to provide the appropriate certificate(s):

  • SELECT Electrotechnical Site Safety Assessment (TESSA) course (within the last 30 months);

You must enclose copies of all relevant certificates; your application cannot be processed without this information.

If you meet the criteria and have all the relevant certificates, complete either the:

If you would prefer to apply via paper and post it to us, this is possible but please note that the turnaround time for a paper application is longer than an online application and can only be processed once payment has been received.

Renewal Application

Note: You can only apply to renew your card after you have held the new ECS Related Discipline card (introduced in 2021)

To renew your existing ECS Related Discipline card, a sector specific training reference and a detailed Job Description from your employer, detailing your Job Title and the scope of work is required.
